The superhero mirror-image theme
inherent in superhero characters’ archenemies, alter egos and sidekicks is
obvious, but the comic books didn’t let the doubling concept rest there. They
underlined it repeatedly and directly with robot doubles, parallel worlds, mirror
creatures, clones and various other such dopplegangers.
Here, this 1966 house ad for a
giant-size issue of Superboy celebrates many of the other superboys he had
encountered over the decades — and just scratches the surface, really.
